A tattooed serpent-dragon rests on a nest of twigs. The twigs symbolize the microbial ecosystem we live in and that our bodies extend beyond our skin. But, Nesting in Our Ecosystem also explores the concept of belonging. In nature, nothing exists in isolation. Every branch holds weight for another. Every nest is both shelter and vulnerability–built from fragments of the surrounding world. The nest is not only a home; it is a collaboration that is sustained by an environment that must remain in harmony to survive.
The work invites us to consider our own ecosystems–the communities, relationships, and environments that hold us. What do we gather? What do we build? And how gently do we treat the systems that allow us to nest at all?
